The Transcript
Welcome to our “Blog for a Livin” Video Series on How to Install a WordPress Plugin.
FIRST, what a PLUGIN is?
A plugin is a little piece of software that can add features or enhance the functionality of your WordPress website/Blog.
Plugins such as:
Akismet Anti-Spam – Allows us to focus on writing quality content rather than moderating SPAM comments.
VaultPress – For backing up your site and providing security.
Yoast SEO – To improve Search English Optimization.
OptinMonster – A lead generation tool that helps build your Audience.
Caution – Be careful adding too many plugins to your website/blog, as it MAY bog-down or slow down your site. There is a balancing act you need to experiment with.
Secondly – there is a possibility that the more plugins you install and activate, the more likely it is that some of these plugins may not be compatible with another causing an issue.
So, make sure you use plugins that have been tested against the latest version of your website/blog, WordPress Theme.
Let’s look at your website’s admin area.
You can get there by typing your domain name in the URL window at the top of your browser followed by a forward slash ( / ), then type the letters WP for WordPress, then dash ( – ), and then admin, spelled – admin.
Once you’re in – click on the “Plugin” link on the main left menu.
As you can see, there is a list of the Plugins we use for the Beyond Moods® website/Blog.
